What happens?
When children are exposed to traumatic events, their learning process can be severely impaired. If children aren’t nurtured and supported in the proper manner many academic challenges can occur. This can negatively impact the rest of their lives. As a result of unfortunate circumstances, generational curses are produced or continue to further develop.
Parenting !
Parenting is joyful; however, parenting can also be challenging. No one knows what to say or how to behave as a parent for the wellbeing of children. Despite learning and experiencing how to be a parent alongside the child, children start to create and develop their perception of the world from their experiences. Trauma has the capability to impede on perceptions and interrupt the direction of one’s life. Research suggests that it is possible to improve relationships amongst parents with interpersonal trauma and their children; however, many of the interventions would be challenging for lower-income families to access. For instance, studies discussed a variety of therapies as an intervention for parents and their children to attend to improve their communication and relationships.
